Anand Jon -- More Rape Charges, Now in NY

The shocking sex charges against designer Anand Jon continue to multiply -- this time, in New York. And now the Manhattan D.A. has issued a warrant for Jon's arrest and extradition to New York. The accused rapist is being held in an L.A. County jail.

TMZ has learned that a New York grand jury has just indicted Jon on 40 counts of criminal sexual acts, including rape in the first degree, criminal sexual acts (forcible sodomy), witness intimidation and numerous other charges. Jon's nine accusers were interviewed over the past week, and the alleged crimes occurred over the past five years, all in Manhattan, according to the Manhattan D.A.'s office.

And it gets worse.

Sources tell TMZ that numerous other accusers have been identified, and that the current indictment merely scratches the surface of the designer's alleged criminal behavior.

The New York indictment and warrant mean that even if Jon posts his $2.1 million bail, as set on Nov. 7 in California, he will then be hauled to Manhattan for arraignment on the new charges.

Jon was indicted in September on 54 felony counts in L.A. county, including forcible rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object, and lewd acts upon a child. He has been indicted for similar incidents in Texas, both in Houston and Dallas, and is under investigation in Massachusetts and Florida. Jon faces life in prison if convicted.

Jon's lawyer didn't return calls for comment.

46. I agree with the many others who have commented... seems like all these women are just jumping on the gravy train now. Where were they all these years?

47. I was raped 10 years ago and never came forward about it. I told my family about it, and they were supportive of my decision because I was so scared of the rapists (there were two) that I was afraid of ever seeing them again.

The fact is, many women are scared to come forward once raped. Questions like, "Can they prove beyond all reasonable doubt that it wasn't consensual?" or "Do I want to put my character and background on trial, regardless of it not being relevant?" come into the minds of the rape victims that end up having their lives and truthfulness put on trial and questioned just as much as the person(s) accused of the rape. If I had heard that other women had come forward accusing the same men of raping them that raped me, then I would be more inclined to come forward along with them. There is security in numbers, and I would feel safer and more confident as a result.

In a world where celebrities are put on a pedestal and looked at with high regard, how is a woman that claims he/she got raped by that celebrity expected to get a fair shake? For example, the woman that accused Kobe Bryant of rape was called into question by MANY people, simply because Kobe is a celebrity. I don't know whether or not he did what she accused him of, but there is NO REASON that she deserved the death threats and harassment from his fans that she did.

Anand was charged with committing a lewd act on a child in 2003, and plead GUILTY in order to receive a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct with probation, 52 weeks of sex therapy, and never to associate with children under the age of 18 without an adult present. One of the youngest girls accusing him of rape in California is only 15. I agree that he deserves a fair trial in all counties that he is being accused of the various acts of rape, however, I am saddened to hear that a lot of the people are automatically siding with the celebrity since he is famous and has money. What if what these girls are saying IS true? Why do they have to ALL TOGETHER be called into question based on what little information we have? And how in the world does this benefit them as a whole? Do you think Anand is just going to pay all of these women off to get them to drop their cases against him? And if so, wouldn't the media be all over them if they did? And another thing: Prosecutors try not to release the names of the accused rape victims so that they aren't harassed or intimidated (although sometimes their names can get leaked regardless), so where does the whole "I'm going to be famous because I'm accusing a famous person of rape" idea come from??

How sad.

49. a lot of people commenting who dont understand why so many are coming forward now must be 12 or 14 or something, this is happening all the times, to all sorts of crimes and criminals. just study the catholic priest pedophile cases that goes back years.
not saying that golddiggers who take advantage of a situation dont exist. but the fact that so many victims are coming forward after the first ones press charges is NOT evidence of likely falsehood. he is being indicted IN FOUR DIFFERENT CITIES at he same time, and they are two more states investigating. i am not a lawyer, but using BASIC LEVEL COMMON SENSE i dont believe that four DA's in four different cities would risk their reputations on shaky evidence and witnesses. i am guessing that 3 of them would have waited to see if the first one could get a conviction.

50. WHAT DOES HE DESIGN -CROTCHLESS PANTIES?

51. #29 Juke Jumper..........I wondered how long it would take for some racist to start spewing forth their filth. You should be ashamed. You are making the assumption that ALL Indians are "stinky" and "never bathe(s)." And you are so very wrong and misguided. And offensive.

I recently retired from a private college where I worked with international students. I probably could name more than 50 Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis that I knew from extremely well to slightly well but all of whom I knew socially AND NOT ONE OF THEM WAS "STINKY".

In addition, 22 years ago I adopted a baby girl from Calcutta, India, and I can assure you she bathes at least once a day and definitely DOES NOT SMELL STINKY.

So, keep your ignorance to yourself. The wrong person might hear you one day.

52. Wow! all of that rage and indignation only to find out that he really is stinky . Feel stupid?

"And he smelled bad. The girls looked at me and were like, are all Indian guys like this? And I was like, nope, just this fool right here. Later, my parents told me that they know him through family friends." ~Julie ann Titus

53. To repeat what some are saying on here. I highly doubt that all of these women are telling the truth. He looks like he could be one of those "hot freaks". Gotta watch out for them. LoL
The only reason all these women are coming forward is for money. Plain and simple. I feel sorry for the women (if there are any in this case) whom actually had something happen to them. This guy is surrounded by beautiful models all day, everyday. Would it really be difficult for him to find someone willing to give it up whenever he wants it? Let's hope the truth comes out, but in instances like this, the truth rarely does.

54. WHY wasn't this a- hole taken off the streets along time ago. Why has it taken sooooo long? You would have thought that someone would have been able to prosecute him for atleast one of things that have come to light! This freak will love jail! LOTS OF SODOMY AND RAPE goes on there. Maybe now he will get to UNDERSTAND what he put his victims through!

55. to #55 ~~~ everyone had a right to there opinion ~~~ WE don't have to agree, but there are some who would agree also and have that right....... We can't keep this politically correct B.S. going on, we are losing our rights to free speech if we do. YOU DON'T have to agree, but just as YOU have an opinion so does everyone else.
TO # 56: there are people who no matter how much sex they get STILL have to be deviant. Rape is not about the "sex" it is a violent action. It is more about the control not the sex.

58. What is really sad is that all these women where in a situation to be abused. If the young women where not made to feel as if only through sexual favors can they acheive success then these kind of things would not happen.

I am sure that with soo many accusures there has to be some truth to this but what is more likely is that some young women who where looking for a break where put in compromising positions

Did he take advantage? its likely, but if we as a society do not start teaching our young women to value themselves then how can we expect them to stand up to such men.

When you see all this sexuality in the media, men treat you as disposable and you are told the only way to get ahead is to be pretty then how can we then be surprised when the result is a broken, sad girl who has been taken advantage of and after time realizes that it really wasn't consentual, that she was put in a vulnarable state and then participated in somethign that she would not normally do.

They probably got drunk or did drugs and in that state submitted themselves to his will, and lets not forget that if this was the case that it is still rape. Especially if the person was underage.

Teach your girls to be strong confident women who do not feel that in order to get ahead they have to sleep their way there.

A woman who knows when to say NO!

59. Do you idiots who are defending him realize there is more than one girl under the age of 16 who is accusing him?

Yes, I agree, a 27-year-old who agrees to go to a person's house should have the cognative ability and the street smarts to realize they are going into a potentially 'bad' situation. That being said, the human brain is not fully developed until approximately age 20 and is not capable of making complex decisions like an adult can. (if you don't belive me, just go to an online cognitive scientific database, and you will find pleanty of good research that supports my claims.)

60. And by the way, if he is so rich, he should change the 1990s furniture in his Beverly Hills apartment, hire a maid to clean his FILTHY apartment (the whole place is covered in filth...like dirt, black carpets), update his circa 1985 bathroom, repaint the ENTIRE apartment, and burn the carpet that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1989!
